• As servant leaders it is up to us to build the kind of culture and community that those who follow us can thrive in. In the Culture Code, there are three skills that a are focused on. Those three skills are Building Safety, Sharing Vulnerability, and Establishing Purpose. Through all the activities during this month, you will focus on growing in these three skills to continue to create true community where all people can thrive.

  • Take time each morning to answer these questions and then take time in the evening to reflect one how you accomplished the actions you identified each day.

    • What is one way I can build safety in a relationship or my organization today?

    • What is one way I can share vulnerability in a relationship or my organization today?

    • What is one way I can establish purpose in a relationship or my organization today?

  • With your mentor, identify one of the three skills in which you feel you have the most area for growth. After a discussion on that skill, take the time to develop a plan to help you grow in that skill. List tangible actions you can take to help either build safety, share vulnerability, or establish purpose for those you lead.

  • Questions for Group Discussion:

    • Between building safety, sharing vulnerability, and establishing purpose, which do you struggle with the most and why?

    • Great cultures and communities aren’t always warm and fuzzy. In what ways have you seen conflict exist in a safe community? Have you ever experienced conflict in an unsafe community? How were those experiences different?

    • In what ways can we increase belonging in our organizations? How will that change performance and effectiveness for those we lead?

  • After exploring this practice, here are outcomes we would like to see established in participants:

    • Participants will be proficient in the actions that build safety establish belonging in their organizations.

    • Participants will know how to model and share vulnerability as leaders.

    • Participants will know how to establish purpose and create a culture that gives those they lead purpose and clarity moving forward.
